Holy Cross Logo

Holy Cross Logo

Holy Cross Monastery requested a new logo for their capital campaign, which was raising money to build a new chapel and several other buildings. They provided simulated images from their architect and information about the rest of their campaign.

I initially proposed four designs: a badge based on the interior of their new church, a cross, an icon inspired by the Benedictine medal (a symbol of their religious order), and a simple cross in a circle that could be easily reproduced and scaled to any size.

The last logo was the one they liked best, so I designed different crosses for them to pick from. They liked the cross that was based off of the typeface they were using for all of their campaign materials. I also offered designs with different embellishments, such as a thin frame inside the circle.

After presenting the bottom logo above to others involved in the capital campaign, the client decided that they wanted to go with a logo that would better represent the campaign itself rather than the monastery as a whole. We went back to the first logo design, and I made some modifications to come up with the logo below, as well as horizontal, icon-only, and address variations.
